23rd March national day of Pakistan day, also known as Republic day, which is celebrated on 23rd March annually in Pakistan, which recalls the ‘Lahore Resolution’ of 1940 held in Lahore. The day envisaged a new country for the Muslims of India.
Reason to pass Resolution
Muslim League passed a resolution that Muslims residing in India wanted a separate country and independence. Therefore this day is celebrated every year in the whole country and the day is considered a public holiday.
Objectives of Resolution
Jawahar Laal Nehru put the objective Resolution on 22nd January 1945. The basic principles and ideas about Resolution were sovereignty, equality, and liberty.

Pakistan’s Day History
The Lahore Resolution denied the basic idea of a United India. Instead, the Resolution proposed the formation of an independent region for the Muslims. The Resolution did not suggest the idea of Pakistan at that time.
The Resolution eventually prevented the formation of Pakistan on the date of 14th August 1947. In 1960 the Minar-e-Pakistan was formed in Iqbal Park. Pakistan was created as the 1st Islamic Republic on 14th August 1947.
Unique traditions to celebrate National Day?
Pakistan National Day is denoted by the passion and commitment of the Pakistanis. The day begins with the prayers in mosques for the solidarity and development of the country. Then, in the federal capital Islamabad and four provincial capitals, Pakistan day is celebrated by military parades in the mornings. The military soldiers offer gun salutes.
News media broadcast lives parades in the whole country. The President of Pakistan becomes the Chief Guest. Furthermore, The Prime Minister of Pakistan with the Cabinet Ministers, Chairman Joint Chiefs Parliament members, Military Chiefs of Staff also attend the celebration ceremony. As a guest of honor, Presidents or Prime Ministers of the other country are also invited to one ceremony.
On that day, National awards and different medals are conferred by the President of Pakistan. A wreath of flowers is set down in Karachi at the mausoleum of Muhammad Ali Jinnah and Muhammad Iqbal whose mausoleum is in Lahore.
All the buildings fly the National flag on Pakistan’s day. Most government buildings and departments like Railway station, Provincial Assembly building, Wapda Offices, etc. are decorated with beautiful and colorful lights on a national day. The Armed Forces of Pakistan hold a military parade. Armed Forces of the Air Force and Navy take part in the parade.
Celebration in Educational Institutes
In educational institutes like schools and universities, students sing national songs, take part in poetry competitions and other activities to celebrate Pakistan’s day. Portraits of Quaid-e-Azam, Allama Iqbal, and other prominent leaders of the Independence struggle are displayed on buildings. Their pictures are printed on everything from t-shirts to bumper stickers. The events are celebrated and well organized in the country and Embassies of Pakistan to commemorate the day.
Purpose of the Parade
This day is also considered the day of the Joint Services Parade. The purpose of the parade is to show the sign of peace by arranging a military parade. It also reflects the determination of the nation and displays the message of solidarity and coherence. Thousands of soldiers participate in March to show unity and discipline.
After passing the Resolution within the next seven years, On 14th August 1947, a new homeland Islamic Republic was added to the map of the world. It’s a democratic struggle and a lot of sacrifices for the Muslims of India. Our Hero, the founding father Muhammad Ali Jinnah, struggled hard to make an independent homeland, where the Rules and Laws would reign under Muslims authorities.

In October 2015 Pakistan’s Prime Minister visited Washington, infusing the spirit of good relations, to commit U.S-Pakistan partnership for the prosperity and stability of Pakistan. The visit enforced the bilateral relationship, focused on shared interests and mutual respect, for long-term national and international prosperity. It’s a matter of gratifying that this joint partnership of these two countries has noticed interacting in economic growth, energy, trade, defense, and counter-terrorism.
The several institutes have flourished now as The Parliament of the country is sovereign, the judiciary is independent, media is free, and civil society is vibrant.
Military operations have achieved success against terrorism. Development is significant for the stability of peace. On Pakistan day, people of the country pay tribute to national heroes, leaders, martyrs, and who gave their sacrifices for freedom and a new homeland.
Every year by celebrating the event, we get an opportunity to remind ourselves of our promises to make our country progressive a welfare state and prosperous nation in true sense.” By celebrating Pakistan’s day, we must remind the principles of Quaid-i-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah that were unity, faith discipline. The focus should be given on the transformation of Pakistan to a democratic and welfare state, following the model of Riyasat-i-Madina.”
